Hello,
I’m looking for a detailed article on the history of logic theory, focusing
on axiom systems, when and by whom they were invented, and the history and
development of logic theory in general. So far I’ve only managed to find on
www brief summeries, and I’m looking for a detailed article, the more
detailed the better. If anyone can point me to a www page with anything
similar to what I am looking for, that’d be great. Also reference to a book
or written article would be good.
Any comments would be great, thanks a lot…

I’m probably out of date, but for books I would suggest:
William and Martha Kneale, The Development of Logic, OUP (my "best
buy")
Arthur Norman Prior, Formal Logic, OUP
Innocentius M Bochenski, Formal Logic, (publisher?)
also, Alonzo Church, Introduction to Mathematical Logic (vol I, but
there is no vol II), Princeton, has a lot of history.
If by "logic" you mean modern logic beginning with Frege (say) then look
at Jean van Heijenoort, From Frege to Godel: a Source Book in
Mathematical Logic 1879-1931, Harvard.
Otherwise: Benson J R Mates, Stoic Logic, U California Press.
