Where is the powerset proof in Wikipedia that you pointed out?

sequences, unless the missing powerset element proof is a component of

Show that normal default logic theories always have extensions. Can a
normal
default theory have more than one extension? Either give a simple
propositional
example or else prove otherwise.

A fleet that is M.A.D. Fleet (Mutually Assured Destruction) would solve
Iran and NorthKorea and any other future bid for nuclear weapons by
countries who do not have them.

Trouble with our current system is there is little to no incentive not
to build nuclear weapons but rather incentive to be a nuclear weapons
country. That is because all that exists as a disincentive is talkity
talk, yakkity yak.

With a M.A.D. Fleet however there is every incentive to scrap existing
nuclear weapons and to never build another. That is because with a
M.A.D. Fleet a country puts the entire country into jeopardy of being
annihilated should a nuclear weapon be fired or accidentally fired.

And with a M.A.D. Fleet in place, countries can go ahead and build
nuclear power plants and yet they would be sensible enough not to build
nuclear weapons.

The M.A.D. Fleet is the motivation and incentive not to build nuclear
weapons and to scrap existing nuclear weapons.

Unless and until the world body puts a M.A.D. Fleet in place then the
entire world landscape will be that of building more nuclear weapons by
tiny countries and immature countries and dangerous countries and
religious fanatical countries. Countries that routinely produce suicide
bombers would have no qualm in strapping a nuclear weapon instead of a
conventional.

And it is the right of Iran to build nuclear power plants. But the
trouble is that the world is naked without a motivator and incentivizor
and rule of pattern that deals with those that go beyond nuclear power
plants to that of nuclear weapons.

So we see tin-badge countries hustling to build nuclear weapons of
NorthKorea, and Iran and who is next? That is because the world has
nothing to motivate and incentivize in the other direction of getting
rid of nuclear weapons.

Until the world puts a M.A.D. Fleet in place then the world is a ticking
time bomb for when the first nuclear weapons launch that ends up killing
millions and polluting the planet.

Talk never prevented a new weapon being used. What prevented nuclear
weapons exchanged between USSR and USA from 1950 to 1990 was
Mutual-Assured-Destruction and it was M.A.D. that created the decrease
in the USA and USSR arsenals. It was M.A.D that halted the escalation of
the Cuban Missile Crisis in the 1960s  and if not for M.A.D. in the form
of a Fleet that blockaded Cuba, we probably would have had WW3 in the
1960s.

So we need a M.A.D. Fleet that parks off the coast of countries who
behave roguely. And should that rogue country fire upon the Fleet
requires a mandatory regime change. And should the rogue country launch
a nuclear weapon mandates the annihilation of the country itself. In
this manner, the world public is given the highest insurance policy that
there will not be a nuclear war or even a nuclear-terrorist-attack.

To give the highest guarantee that no nuclear weapon will be used in the
world in the future requires the threat of annihilation to any country
that ends up using nuclear weapons. It is not talkity talk , yakkity yak
in revolving door diplomats that will prevent an unwanted nuclear
explosion. It is M.A.D. concept embodied by a M.A.D. Fleet that will
give the highest insurance no nuclear exchange and it is this M.A.D.
Fleet that will begin to reverse the desire of countries to keep and to
build nuclear weapons. Once they see that the threat of total
annihilation of their country looms because they build nuclear weapons,
then they begin to see the folly of their building.

And in fact the numbers of inspectors can decrease rather than increase
in the future because everyone knows that they can build power plants
but not weapons because they risk annihilation. And at present, the
building of nuclear weapons is encouraged by the blackmailing of other
countries such as NorthKorea blackmailing the rest of the world. With  a
M.A.D. Fleet in place, the people of NorthKorea would have probably
removed their despot on their own volition realizing there is nothing
for the country to gain but all to lose in an annihilation by the M.A.D.
Fleet.

Hi again everyone! I have a new problemset for the weekend that I have
been working on. This is my second week of Logic class. We have moved
on to constructing truth tables, etc. and building sentences in SL.
Anyways, I’ll start five different threads, one for for each of the
questions. This first one is pretty easy, but any feedback would be
great!

The first problem goes like this:
1.  Represent the truth-functional form of the following passages.
Remember to be clear about what English sentence each sentence letter
of SL you use stands for.
a) Tony Blair will lead Labour to another victory, unless he concedes
power to Gordon Brown first, in which case Gordon Brown will lead
Labour to another victory.
b)      Exactly one of the Mets, the Yankees, and the Red Sox will win the
World Series this year.
c)      Provided there are no flight delays and his flight hasn’t been
cancelled, Ted will arrive in Manhatten on time if Mark picks him up at
JFK airport.
d)      "Pooh could get his chin on to the bottom rail if he wanted to,
but it was more fun to lie down and get his head under it, and watch
the river slipping slowly away beneath him" (A. A. Milne).

Nilsson’s book [1] talks about using first-order logic (and its subsets) as
the language for deductive databases. The book is 10 years old, and yet,
AFAIK the expressive power of modern state-of-art database software like
Oracle and PostgreSQL still falls far behind first-order logic: it
essentially doesn’t have functors or recursion. Does anyone know why?

Recently I’v studied the meta mathematical theory of Gregory Chaitin.
There’s one thing that I do not understand properly.

Does Chaitin claim that a theorem T is unprovable from an axiom set A iff
complexity(T) > complexity(A)

Complexity of a structure (such as a theorem of axiom set) is the measure of
the smallest computer program that generates the structure.

then there are other reals not in L by using an elementary shuffle
operation from bubble-sort.

r1 = 0. r_2 r_1 r_3 …
r2 = 0. r_1 r_3 r_2 …

Any pair of digits of r can be swapped and that real is also not in the
list!  Swapping digits does not change the set that L is based on by
reordering its elements.

r = 0. r_1 r_2 … r_n-1   r_n   r_n+1   r_n+2 r_n+3 …
rs= 0. r_1 r_2 … r_n-1   r_n+1 r_n     r_n+2 r_n+3 …

If r has the property that oo of every digit from 0..9 occur in its
expansion, which is found in many real numbers, then rs can be
tranformed from r into ANY OTHER REAL NUMBER with that property.

Therefore the diagonal of a set with this property can be scrambled
easily and no_information_about_the_set can be obtained by examining
the diagonal.

Examine some sets whos diagonals contain oo of each digit.

diag(set4) = 0.278188254646347..

According to Cantors proof, the missing reals from each of these sets
are exactly the same!
